Aarti Naik’s Mumbai-based NGO Sakhi for Girls Education aims to provide safe places for girls to learn. As part of its mission to empower its community, Sakhi places an emphasis on, computer literacy, providing foundational education, life skills, and rights knowledge.
The organisation through its caring and supporting approaches, helps countless girls gain confidence and education, which in turn fosters a lifelong love for learning and the development of future leaders.
Sakhi encountered an enormous challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic, when conventional education was suspended. The girls’ education was impacted by the shortage of mobile phones when schools moved online.
As a countermeasure, Sakhi teamed up with social consulting firm AVISI and Simit Bhagat Studios (SBS) to produce an original crowdfunding film. The goal of the campaign was to raise money so that disadvantaged girls could receive tablet computers to enable them to continue their education regardless of the challenging times.
The result was an innovative crowdfunding campaign that Sakhi ran in conjunction with students from the University of Berkeley. Creating an appealing crowdfunding video helped Sakhi raise funds. Skillfully utilising existing content and impactful photographs, the video effectively communicated the organisation’s mission, resonating with supporters.
The campaign raised an astounding $2,259 in just one month, which is quite incredible. These funds played a crucial role in enabling Sakhi’s young students to get tablet computers.
In order to create Sakhi’s powerful crowdfunding video, Simit Bhagat Studios (SBS) followed an in-depth strategy. Our team leveraged existing content and images to creatively script and edit a captivating story. Sakhi’s mission was given sharp focus through the seamless blending of images, text, and music and the resulting video was able to forge a strong connection with the viewer.
Working together, we wanted to make sure that Sakhi’s cause would not only be seen, but would also strike a chord with viewers and inspire them to back the campaign.
The partnership between AVISI, Simit Bhagat Studios and Sakhi for Girls Education showcases the impact of visual storytelling in promoting positive social change. The crowdfunding effort was a huge success, raising much-needed finances and awareness on this issue.
