Drums full of alcohol

The Loi community in Andro village has been traditionally known to produce alcohol as the primary source of income. While Manipur is officially a dry state, it is common to see people making alcohol from fermented rice, and drums full of alcohol outside every household. Once ready, they fill it up in plastic bags and keep it on their verandahs. The consignment is then picked up by buyers and distributed across the state.
If the rains don’t stop

Arun Naik comes from a family of paddy farmers in Nerur village, Sindhudurg. While he no longer wishes to continue farming because of a lack of sustainable returns, he has worked hard to farm at least some portion of his land. But due to rains continuing even post-October, he was unable to harvest his rice crop until November (generally, paddy crops are harvested in August-September).
