India holds a prominent position as one of the largest silk producers globally. However, the producers in rural areas face significant challenges, including limited connectivity to other villages and unfair pricing in the marketplace, hindering their growth and profitability.

Resham Sutra, a social enterprise, is transforming the silk market with its innovative mobile application, Gram Sootra. This app enables producers and self-help groups to manage their production activities effectively while ensuring they receive higher profits and fair prices for their produce.

At Simit Bhagat Studios, our goal was to raise awareness among cocoon producers, fabric weavers, and self-help groups about the immense benefits they can gain from Resham Sutra’s initiative.

We recognised the power of visual storytelling and chose to create an animated explainer video tailored to Reshamsutra’s target audience.

Our video employed 2D animation techniques to portray the journey of various characters within the silk value chain ecosystem and how the Gram Sootra app revolutionises their work.

By blending captivating imagery and compelling narratives, explainer videos have the ability to grab viewers’ attention and effectively communicate an organisation’s impact.

We carefully developed characters like Santosh, Parvati, and Debasis, ensuring they resonated with real-life marketplace situations in India. Each character faced and overcome specific challenges relevant to their daily work, allowing viewers to empathise with their experiences.

This animated explainer video conveys the transformative impact of the Gram Sootra app in revolutionising the silk market. We are proud to have played a part in spreading awareness about this initiative through the power of storytelling and relatable characters.

Resham Sutra’s commitment to creating a level playing field for all stakeholders in the silk industry is truly commendable.
