SYNOPSIS

Sindhudurg is the rice bowl of Maharashtra, India. However, in the last 25 years, over 12,500 acres of rice farms in the region have turned fallow. The number is only increasing every year, as more and more farmers are moving to large cities in search of work. My Disappearing Farms is a documentary film on Sindhudurg’s people and their struggle to keep their culture alive.
“Seeing the situation of struggling farmers in Konkan, Maharashtra, I decided to make my first documentary film – My Disappearing Farms,” says Simit Bhagat, Director.
The film received a good response. It was nominated and screened at various film festivals across India including the prestigious CMS Vatavaran Environment and Wildlife International Film Festival 2017 in New Delhi.
