Transformative Journeys: Case Study of an NGO Annual Report

A vibrant print annual report design project highlighting transformative work of a Mumbai-based nonprofit.

Happy Feet Home (HFH) is a nonprofit organisation based out of Mumbai. They support children facing illnesses such as HIV, Thalassaemia Major, Cancer and Anaemia.

Established in 2014, they provide a holistic approach to care that includes emotional, medical, educational and nutritional support. HFH seeks to empower marginalised children and improve their quality of life.

Simit Bhagat Studios worked on a 26-page annual report design project for HFH. The report highlights their work supporting children with life-threatening illnesses. We aimed to highlight their comprehensive approach in the most impactful way.

To delve deeper into this annual report design project, let’s look at the step by step process we followed:

1. Collaborative Discussions and Ideation:

The journey began with an in-depth discussion between the HFH and us. Furthermore, we delved into their vision, brand identity and goals for the annual report design. Since this was the first report outsourced by HFH, open communication and clear alignment were paramount. Our team aimed for a vibrant document that mirrors their optimistic spirit. We also sought creative ways to present data and statistics.

2. Production for the Annual Report Design:

Brand Elements: We utilised their existing brand colour to ensure consistency with their visual identity. Furthermore, we created a design language that evoked emotions and embodied the joy they brings to children’s lives. We also used vibrant colours and bold designs to make the product stand out.

Balancing Visuals and Content: Maintaining a balance between visuals and content was crucial. We employed a compelling blend of elements to create an engaging experience. These additions feature HFH’s colourful abstract designs, graphic arts and edited real pictures.

Data with a Heart: Data and statistics are essential for any annual report. Therefore, we used infographics that showcased their reach and their positive impact. These stories, full of resilience and hope, humanised the report’s statistics.

3. Editing and Finalisation:

HFH maintained open communication throughout the design process. Regular client feedback sessions ensured the reports reflected their vision and goals. We included their inputs on photos, content and design elements in the final report.

The final collateral was a vibrant and informative annual report design that captured the essence of HFH’s work. This report was a valuable tool for the organisation in their quest for wider support. Moreover, it is a reflection of the joy and hope they weave into the lives of children facing life-threatening illnesses.

Do you wish to create a story that inspires the nation? Impactful design goes beyond aesthetics; it is about connecting with people and achieving your goals.
